Yes, it is worth buying a 1 or 2 BHK in Lonavala as it has the advantage of being close to Pune and Mumbai and also being a pretty hill station, it's not high enough to be bitterly cold, and the pleasant weather is a big selling point. The cost of living is also not too high and it is very easy to live in Lonavala and work in Mumbai (88 kms approx) or Pune (65 kms approx), giving you the best of both worlds.
